circle line (clay)
These tiny dishes were among the first things I made when I began pottery eight or so years ago. The simple pinched dish is something I come back to again and again. I love working on a tiny scale as it invites intense focus. Making these dishes is a meditation. They are small enough to fit in one hand and there is great intimacy in that. The spiral motif appears often in my work. As does the evil eye. I am drawn both to the visual possibilities and age old symbolism. I decided to mount a number of spirals, circles and evil eyes on the wall as an ode to the places where we begin, and keep coming back to.
